SNES-style Xbox cloud game controller. I like the combination of retro and latest
8BitDo, which has worked on reliable quality and retro design game controllers, has announced a new product "Sn30 Pro for Xbox cloud gaming (hereafter SN30 Pro)". The silhouette is a Super Nintendo controller, but the design is completely Xbox!
This is a wireless controller for Microsoft's cloud gaming service "Project xCloud (currently open to the public, not available in Japan)". It is a remote game environment that fully utilizes the cloud power of Azure, which has many users in the world, and you can enjoy streaming games with low latency like Stadia. Well, the current situation is your home country.
But even if you can't play in your own country, the Sn30 Pro's design is very appealing. The matte texture, the coloring of the buttons, the shiita in the middle…the Xbox button. It has a unified design that makes it look like an official Xbox item, and I think it's the best among the many 8BitDo products. Charging is also Type-C!
Supported OS is Android only. 8BitDo's controllers are useful for various uses other than games, but since they are not compatible with the Xbox One series and iOS, it seems better to use them for streaming.
Reservations are being accepted on Amazon overseas, and the release date is September 21, 2020. The price is 44,99 dollars (about 4,800 yen). It is unknown if it will come to Japan at the same time, but considering the current situation that Project xCloud is not compatible with Japan... Don't believe in cyber gadgets.
