[Mac OS] How to set up like Windows without mouse acceleration

When people who usually use Windows use Mac OS, the acceleration of the mouse cursor may feel uncomfortable.

So this time, I will introduce how to disable the acceleration of an external mouse on Mac OS.

Turn off Mouse Acceleration

You can disable mouse cursor acceleration on Mac from the terminal.

First, check the current mouse acceleration value with the following command and make a note of it.

defaults read .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scalingCode language: CSS (css)

Next, set the mouse disable acceleration.

 [Mac OS] Remove mouse acceleration

defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1Code language: CSS (css)

Then restart your Mac , or log out and log back in for the settings to take effect.

In addition, to speed up or slow down the speed (resolution) of the mouse while the acceleration is disabled, set the function of each mouse or the software distributed by the mouse manufacturer.

Revert Mouse Acceleration

To enable Mac mouse cursor acceleration, do one of the following:

Open a terminal and run the following command.

defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling 1Code language: CSS (css)

Then the last number Replacing "1" with the number you wrote down earlier will return to the original setting.

If you restart your Mac or log out and then log back in, the settings will be reflected.

Also, you can change the "trajectory speed" to your liking from "System Preferences" -> "Mouse".

In this case, it is convenient because the settings will be reflected immediately without logging out each time.

In addition, in the environment at hand, com.apple.mouse.scaling became 1 when the "trajectory speed" was set exactly in the middle.

If the acceleration still remains after this

If the acceleration of the pointer is still unsatisfactory even with this method, you can use the following free application "ExactMouse Tool".

This requires the installation of an app, but it feels almost the same as when you turn off the "Enhance pointer precision" setting in Windows.

This is recommended for those who want to pursue the operation feeling of Windows more.
